Origami 🌀

Origami has become one of my favourite things to do lately — especially when I get to make something special for someone else. For my friend’s birthday, I decided to go all out and create a whole bunch of colourful, creative origami gifts. And let me just say… they were big. Like, almost as big as my hand kind of big!
The Birthday Creations 🎂
I made four flowers sitting in a little frog pond — it looked so cute and peaceful, like a mini garden scene. Then I folded a shiny little duck that almost looked like it was ready to swim away.
One of the coolest pieces I made was a dragon — and not just any dragon. When you pull his tail, his wings actually flap! It took me ages, but it was so worth it. That’s definitely one of the most difficult designs I’ve made so far.
Oh! And the crown I made? Not tiny. Not even a little bit. It was huge — like, birthday-queen-on-her-throne huge 👑 I made sure it would fit perfectly on her head, and she will be wearing it either way!
Then, maybe my favourite part of the gift: I made a big origami box filled with positive affirmations. Each piece of paper has a kind message, like:
✨ Keep this forever
✨ Make it last
✨ Open one each day
It’s like a little treasure chest of kindness.
How I Got Into Origami 🐦
I first saw someone doing origami a while ago and thought it looked so cool — I just had to try it. I started watching videos on YouTube and haven’t stopped since. Now I’m learning all kinds of folds and techniques just from watching tutorials and giving things a go.
The very first thing I ever made was a paper crane. I still have it sitting in my room — it reminds me how far I’ve come. It’s a little wonky, but I’m proud of it.
At school, a couple of my friends have gotten into origami too, and we sometimes fold things together during lunch. It’s fun, creative, and honestly… kind of calming.
Why I Love It 🎨
I love using colourful paper because it shows off my creativity and makes every design feel different and unique. No two pieces ever turn out the same — and that’s kind of the magic of it.
My dream origami creation? I’d love to make a giant dragon one day — something really detailed and dramatic. That’s the goal.
I mostly make origami so I can give it away. There’s something really special about creating something by hand and gifting it to someone you care about. It’s like folding a little bit of love into every piece.
