Meet Marli: A Snapshot of My World 🌟

Sunday, May 19, 2024

Hey there! I’m Marli, a 13-year-old with a passion for life, music, and helping others. There’s a lot about me that makes me unique, so let me give you a glimpse into my world.

My Journey 🚀

When I was younger, I went through something pretty intense. I was in a coma for a week! I had a Stroke along with a lot of medical complexities, my Mum and Dad say my right frontal lobe has atrophied, so it's easier for me to say I lost the right front quarter of my brain resulting with an Acquired Brain Injury. It was a tough time, but it made me stronger and more determined to live my life to the fullest. 💪

Living with Hearing Loss 🎧

I’m fully deaf in my left ear and partially deaf in my right ear. This means I rely on a 'FM System', (a microphone system) with my teachers at school. It can be challenging sometimes, but I’ve learned to adapt and thrive in my own way. 🌈

Music is My Life 🎶

Music is everything to me. I listen to it 24/7 with my trusty noise-cancelling headphones that I take everywhere. My favourite artists are Eminem, Nicki Minaj, Pink, and Taylor Swift. I’m a huge fan of Taylor Swift—I went to her concert a few years ago and I got to see Pink this year - she is an amazing performer! 🎤🎵

Love Knows No Labels ❤️💛💚💙💜

When it comes to love and relationships, I don’t care about labels. I like boys and girls, and for me, it’s all about the person, not their gender. It’s the connection and the way they make me feel that truly matter. 😊

The Art of Daydreaming ☁️

I’m a daydreamer, through and through. Sometimes, the world around me starts to fade out and I get lost in my thoughts. My strategy to stay focused is to concentrate on one sound or one voice. It helps me stay grounded while still allowing my imagination to roam free. 🌟

Future Physio 🏋️‍♀️

One of my biggest dreams is to be in the therapy world. Following my mum, she’s been in the physio and disability world for years, and I want to follow in her footsteps. Helping people recover and improve their physical and holistic health sounds like an amazing way to make a difference. Plus, I’ll be involved with Marli and Moe, of course! 🙌

That’s a little bit about me. Life might throw challenges my way, but I’m all about embracing them and turning them into strengths. Thanks for getting to know me a bit better!

Until next time,

Marli ✌️😊
